Community in Action: Thank You

Spring reminds us that the work of Guest House is never done alone. In response to our call last month, supporters from across the region answered with remarkable generosity through our Amazon Wishlist, sending everything from hygiene essentials to household supplies directly to the women in our programs. Every item that arrived was a practical act of belief: that these women deserve comfort, dignity, and a fresh start stocked with the basics most of us take for granted. We are deeply grateful to everyone who clicked, ordered, and gave.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to three groups whose hands-on generosity made a tangible difference this month. Alexandria Women for Good visited our residents in late March, delivering laundry baskets filled with bedding, paper towels, laundry soap, and household essentials for women transitioning into our aftercare program. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, our close neighbors and longtime partners, once again demonstrated their commitment to supporting women rebuilding their lives after incarceration by donating a Welcome Basket for each of our newest residents. And the MPR Group stepped up with Aftercare Baskets that will ease the transition for women moving into independent living. Guest House Board Members Wanda Younger and Mondre Kornegay also stopped by to bring toiletry essentials and chat with a few residents. To each of these partners: your generosity is felt every single day by the women you helped welcome home.

A fresh start requires more than determination; it requires a community willing to show up. These groups showed up in the most concrete way possible: with full baskets and open hearts. If you would like to contribute to our next round of Welcome or Aftercare Baskets, our Amazon Wishlist is always open.
